The Truth and Meaning of Human Sexuality issued in 1995 by the Pontifical Council on the Family stresses that parents have "the original, primary and inalienable right" and a serious duty to give their children a positive and gradual education in chastity and human sexuality. Since each child is uniquely different, the parent or guardian is in the best position to determine the appropriate time for providing accurate information that is consistent with the child's physical, psychological and spiritual development.
This is an opportunity to gather with other parents and explore ways that we can share our values with our children.

Our presenter is MARY LEE O'CONNELL, CRNP
Mary Lee is a certified registered nurse practitioner. She has specialized in family-centered sexuality education programs for more than twelve years. Mary Lee has worked with schools and churches to support parents in their role as the primary sexuality educators of their children. Her research into children's questions enabled her to develop handouts to assist parents: from preparing their children for puberty to answering questions about difficult sexual topics. She is widely published and has presented diverse workshops to parent groups, high schools, citizens' groups and parent-child workshops. Mary Lee is approved by the Archdiocese of Washington to teach human sexuality.
