What is oral sex?
Oral sex is when a person uses his/her mouth to arouse a partner's
penis or vagina.
Can you catch a sexual disease from oral sex?
Yes, either person can catch a sexually transmitted disease
(STD) –chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital herpes,
genital warts and HIV/AIDS. Even if the person's mouth and
genitals look OK, the STD germs can still be there and infect
you.
How can a guy catch an STD giving or getting oral
sex?
HIV/AIDS and other STD germs, including gonorrhea and chlamydia,
can live in either blood, or vaginal fluids. Tiny cuts from
dry lips and brushed or flossed teeth let germs out of the
body. These germs can enter the penis or mouth through tiny
invisible cuts caused by the rubbing movements.
How can a girl catch an STD giving or getting oral
sex?
HIV/AIDS and other STD germs, including gonorrhea and chlamydia,
can live in either blood or semen (cum). These germs can enter
a girl’s body through tiny invisible cuts in the skin,
mouth or vagina. Cuts can be from the rubbing movements, dry
lips, brushed or flossed teeth.
Can a girl get pregnant from oral sex?
No, a girl can't get pregnant from oral sex even if she swallows
the semen.
Can you catch HIV/AIDS from oral sex?
Yes, either person can get infected with HIV/AIDS. The germs
travel in blood, semen and vaginal fluid from person
to person through tiny, invisible cuts in the mouth, vagina,
penis or anus.
Is it OK to say no?
It is always OK to say no. Maybe you are worried that you
will lose someone you care about. How you say no really matters.
You can say it like you really mean it without hurting your
partner.
- Talk with someone you trust.
- Practice saying no with friends.
- Some people move too fast.
- Give yourself time and make your own decision.
Why do girls give oral sex even if they don't enjoy
it?
Girls give different reasons for giving oral sex. Some of
them are:
- It’s not really having sex.
- To be popular
- To start or keep a relationship
- To do what she thinks others are doing
- A compromise for not having intercourse
- To still feel she is a “virgin”
- Mistaken belief she can’t get an STD
Why do guys push girls to have oral sex?
Guys give different reasons for having oral sex. Some of them
are:
- Because it feels good
- To feel valued
- To do what he thinks other guys are doing
- To feel he controls her
- To get “something” if a girl doesn’t
want intercourse
- To avoid a possible pregnancy
- Mistaken belief he can’t get an STD
What’s wrong with a guy pushing a girl to give
oral sex?
Pushing a girl to do what she doesn't want is aggressive behavior.
It is a selfish act. Girls need to ask themselves:
- Is he thinking of me or only himself?
- How do I feel about being pressured?
- Do I trust him?
- Am I getting what I want?
- Is he thinking of my feelings or only his?
Why do adults say teens shouldn't have oral sex?
Oral sex is sharing a very private part of yourself. Counselors
know that students who have oral sex may:
- Feel used
- Fear others will know
- Regret their decision
- Feel bad about themselves
- Worry about catching diseases
- Actually get an STD
